This post is part of a series to help you get to know the many faces at the Habitat Wake ReStores. Check back every other Monday to meet a new face and read a little about the people who make up our great team.
Name and Title: Chris Sykes, Fuquay Assistant Store Manager
Home town: Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
Current town: Raleigh, North Carolina
When did you start working at Habitat Wake? July 14th 2015
What is your favorite thing about working for Habitat? Finally having a job where I feel like I actually make a difference in the community. I absolutely love getting to know our volunteers and customers on a daily basis.
What does your typical work day look like?
Chaos! But man do I love it! From open to close I'm in constant motion. Receiving donations, helping customers, working with volunteers and community service members to get tasks done. All of it is pretty much non stop. But at the end of the day, I sleep like a baby.
What do you do in your spare time? I spend pretty much all of my free time with my girlfriend Crystal. We love to disappear on over night trips to the beach, mountains, and everywhere in between. However, we love camping in the woods just as much as crashing on the couch. That said, we do love having our friends over for cook outs and party's, many of whom also work for Habitat.

Do you have any pets or children? We have two dogs. Moses is a border collie mix who's coming up on 9 years this April. And we just added Lady, our year old yellow lab.
What are three items on your bucket list? 1. Take a camper across the US, stopping at all of our favorite parks and forests. 2. Attend the next Super Bowl the Pittsburgh Steelers are in. 3. Build us a cabin tucked somewhere far up in the mountains.
Favorite movie line: "Rule number 76. No excuses. Play like a champion" - Vince Vaughn in Wedding Crashers
Favorite piece you’ve seen or purchased in the ReStore: The best thing I've ever bought from Habitat would have to be this Purple brand queen mattress for our guest room. The couple had only slept on it for two nights and it was a steal for 80 bucks. Now, when I'm banished from the bedroom for snoring, I still get a great nights sleep!
